After yet another 1,000 posts the Pay it Forward thread is starting again here!

What it is: a place to pay it forward to the BladeForum's community

What it is not: a dumping ground for junk or a trade thread

How it works: participants offer items free to the thread. If you decide to claim an item, great! Then pay forward something of yours in return. Simple as that. Everyone is on their own honor, and it has worked well so far. Generally the offer includes shipping, but the offerer may ask for help with shipping costs. (Please don't claim a knife or other age restricted item if you don't meet the age requirement)

What can be offered: anything that someone else might like! Knives of course, but a myriad of items have been offered and claimed: sharpening systems, strops, target and compound bows, slim jims, shop equipment, gold memberships to BladeForums, hunting equipment, art supplies, engineering tools, a pug and a cat (undetermined how serious those offers actually were), ammo, a Steven Segal signed album, the list is endless

How to offer: simply post your items into the thread

How to claim: ask for what has been posted. That's it. Some offers may be conditional or include preferences, for example military service or for someone who has yet to claim anything. There have also been random number selections as well as contests, including guessing what knife an offerer is carrying, composing a rhyme, sports trivia, etc. Most offers are simply for the first post to say "i'll take it!". Again the honor system applies, if you claim something, then pay something forward. Please say thank you to the offerer once you have recieved something, everyone likes to hear it and it confirms the item arrived safely.

Clear? Good. I'll start things off. Free to a good home I am offering an Ontario Rat 1 in coyote brown. Carried only a handful of times and never used. First post to claim it and offer to pay something forward, and it is yours! This is the knife:

Great way to start it off Whetstone. I've heard nothing but awesome things about the Rat folders!

What ever happened to the guy that started this idea?

I sent him a package with a fixed blade and maybe something else and never heard from him???

I think he didn't quite agree with the way things were going. Just a differing of views, he said he had no problem with us continuing.

I'm interested in the rat and have a folder to offer up as well. I have a used Victorinox Officer for grabs. It's nice just gently used. Email me and it's yours!

This one is pending to : stvpourciau

Also a reminder, anyone with unclaimed items from the previous thread(s) please re-post here

I have a Puma Rattler that has been used to gut a fish. And nothing else. If anybody wants it, it could use some use.

I'll see if I cant post a photo of it in a bit.

Quick question. I've been seeing a lot of posts that say " To claim an item you must have given in THIS thread, or you must offer something up in return when claiming an item"
I gave away a couple threads back (post #345) and I have not claimed anything in return. I've seen a bunch of great stuff but have been hesitant to claim anything due to uncertainty about the rules...

Just a quick suggestion, folks: if it's possible, try to post photos of the items you're giving away so people can get a better idea of what you're offering. You can always edit "taken" into the description once something gets claimed...makes it a little easier for people to keep track of whats still available.

Ill have some stuff to offer in an hour or two. Let the giving commence!

It all depends on the poster and there guidelines.
