O Great and Powerful Super Hella Mega Mods,

Does BladeForums sponsor any donation programs for youth/scout organisations? If BF has any such programs, I’d like to help! I’ve seen a few threads like this: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/920988-Cub-Scout-Knife-for-Whittling-Chip-Award from community orientated folks who are terribly underfunded.

Every once in a while, I’ll stumble across some great deals on beginner or value type folders—I think many of my fellow members do as well. While I have no need to stock-up for personal use, I sure wouldn’t mind picking up some extras and ship them off to where they are needed...

If there is no such program in place, is there any chance of starting one? Would anyone else be interested?

Thanks for reading,

-Brett

I would certainly like to participate in a program such as this.

Thanks Wooly!

Edit: maybe a Forum for folks to post who needs what where and for how many...? I think it would be kind of nifty to see the recipient programs be able to post some pics of their events as well...

BF has a pretty strict program AGAINST solicitations or donations. You can appeal to Spark if you think you have something we can work with. But it needs to be more than just a "worthy cause". We cannot encourage sending money to a place we cannot verify as reliable, and we cannot be expected to inspect it to see if it is.

I mean, we won't allow "go to this link and vote for my baby in this Cute Baby Contest". Even something this innocuous would bring a flood of similar requests. And then people would want to know why we wouldn't allow their more "important" programs. We are not CharityForums.

No, I suppose this isn't CharityForums. :o I guess I was thinking of maybe a space in the Community forum or something... not for money, but knife donations at the donator's own expense.

Ah well. It was just a thought.
