hi,
I apologize if this is a dumb question with an obvious answer, but what is the current protocol for paying for one of the Deal of the day knives ? I read the sticky on Instructions for Ordering, but I'm still unclear on what the current options are. Paypal and CC by email ? Somehow at the HI website ? I emailed Yangdu, but have not received a reply to this (I'm sure she's super busy). thanks.

Hi dogrunner:)

HI is probably the most flexible company i know when it comes to payment. Deals of the day can be handled a few ways. One is use paypal. I'm not a huge fan of paypal myself. Another good way is to go to the shopping site and buy a few items to equal what you are paying for the deal of the day, then just let Yangdu know that the items bought are just to finance the DOTD and not to be shipped. I've never had a problem with this before.
Then there is good old fashion snail mail. Mail her a check, and she'll ship it out when your payment is received. Pretty cool, huh?

I used to be even more flexible, but too many idiots were ordering things, receiving them, and not paying:mad:

Yes, HI has been burned a few times but not that much- in general, the customers and the business get along very well with each other. IT is too bad a few rotten apples spoiled it for everyone.

I'm sure Yangdu will get back to you soon, Dogrunner.

Payment options:

1 - pay by Paypal to himimp@aol.com

2 - pay by check made out to Himlayan Imports

Himalayan Imports
3495 Lakeside Dr. PMB 69
Reno, NV 89509
USA

3 - pay by Credit Card via the Yahoo Store by ordering something similarly priced (or a combo of things). I know a few folks who do it this way. The benefit is immediate shipment without having a paypal account.

Thanks. I just wanted to be sure I knew what I was doing in case one of those great deals was too irresistable :)

btw, Mr. Koster, I checked out your website and I have to say, you do some beautiful work!

Every knife I've bought I've just sent Yangdu my cc 411 directly through e-mail. Done. I did it at the time I sent the e-mail on the DOTD and got a very nice, "Done deal. Will ship today," message back. One time I forgot to send the expiration date, she replied asking for it then we were done. If you are paranoid she is going to try to cheat you then do the complicated mess described below. I'm not worried, so...

Andy your right Yangdu is not a threat.

But sending credit card info in what amounts to plain text accross the Internet that can be read with trivial ease on any E-mail relay. smtp server that the E-mail goes accross on the way to her is foolishly risky.

Never send anything in E-mail that you are not willing for the whole world to see.

OK bust my bubble why don't you. It seems like a mess of trouble to buy something off of the website then inform her. I guess I'll have to get used to that though.

She said on another thread to e-mail her half the numbers on each of 2 e-mails and they will sort it out at the shop. Verify this with her though.

I always pay by ordering stuff at the website and simply use the Note: section of the order page to declare it a FALSE ORDER TO PAY FOR TODAY'S DOTD.

Never had any problem whatsoever...and don't have to mess with Paypal.

Of course, if that payment method causes others to withdraw from the shark tank...well.
