Hello, everyone! New forum member here and I have really enjoyed myself so far, so much knowledge from people here it's incredible.
I had a question though, about PayPal fees and why the seller of an item is allowed to ask for they buyer to pay his "seller" fees? It seems to me that having the seller factor fees into the price of their item would make for a much less complicated sale forum and the buyers wouldn't be wondering if they need to add % to their purchase if it isn't clearly stated. I've been on enough forums that don't allow asking for fees that now when I see someone ask it sort of just turns me off.
Early morning question/ rant tht I hope doesn't offend since I am new here and my first post is a nag of sorts. I hope to be able to contribute more positively in my future posts, I just have been absorbing all the info here and haven't had much to add as if yet.
Thanks everyone and have a great weekend.

Couldn't agree with you more. I hate it when sellers list a "net" price rather than simply including the paypal and shipping cost in their price. As far as why there isn't a rule about this? Well it's left up to the seller. And as a buyer if you don't want to transact with that seller - well that's up to you.

Paypal fees should be paid by the seller, that is how it should work and was intended to work. If the seller wants to ask for fees apart from the price of the item, I'd move along. By the same token a lot of people will automatically send money as "Friends & Family" and that releases the buyer of any protection. Sometimes people just need to get burned or burn the wrong person in order to learn a lesson that inevitably changes their tactics.

We have several threads about this already that contain several hundreds and even thousands of posts on the subject. The rules for the exchange here are clearly posted and that is what the position is here regarding the matter. It's a topic that has been hashed out over and over again from every angle you can imagine. No mater what happens or what the rules are, it's up to the buyer to be smart and determine the amount of risk they are willing to take. We have to remember this just like most communities with a market place are built on trust, 99% of the time there is no issue at all. When we get the 1% it's usually a mess.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I made a search for this topic but didn't look past page 2;need to look harder next time. I will close this thread
