I have a USA paypal account, I'm in France now and have a French bank account
my research tells me I cannot link a foreign bank account to a USA PP account.

I'm thinking I need to open a second PP account here in France.

Basically I want to get paid for my work into PP, then be able to xfer the money to the French account so I can use that bank account.
Am I missing anything here or is there an alternative?

on a related note, I know that Wise is a solution, is anyone using Wise for payments of knives?

You should definitely open a French PP account. You will find it very convenient.

You could then pay yourself from your US PayPal account to your French PP account.

The other solution is for you to open a US bank account and then link that to your US Paypal account. Then you could wire transfer the funds to yourself in France. A US account may be a good idea for you because you probably purchase a lot of materials in the US and using a US card to do this may be easier and cheaper.
 
Using a US account is not wise. You should definitely switch to a French account and make your life less complicated. You should be able to purchase goods from the US even with a French account. Lately, I’ve been really struggling with my taxes. I don’t know if there are still people like me, but I used to calculate my taxes without a generator. I just never had time to check anything out, but at one point, I couldn’t handle it anymore. That is why I went on the internet and found this website https://www.thepaystubs.com/. It had a really good pay stub generator that I started to use. Now, after a month I can easily say that it was a really good idea. I can easily recommend it to everyone now.

One reason not to use PayPal to transfer money between the US and France is the usurious currency conversion rate they charge.
