PayPal Membership Renewal for a Friend

Hello,

For a surprise Christmas present I have paid thru PayPal for a 1 year membership, changing from Gold to Platinum for user "BigBiscuit". His membership date is 12/11/14 so I do not know if
he will have any time to pro rate or not. My question is can you guys change him to Platinum and let it be a surprise to him, or will I have to tell him and have him change his subscription
group. I do realize that this process can take up to 72 hours. Thanks in advance!
