Heres how:

1) Go to Paypal.com
2) Sign up for the free individual account.
3) Either manually transfer funds to your paypal account or link your bank account so funds can be automatically drawn/recieved.
4) Send/receive money from/to others using your/their account email address.

If you don't like the idea of trusting Paypal with a link to your bank account, you can still use Paypal while paying with a credit card.

The benefit of doing it this way is that you don't have to give your credit card number to all the vendors that you deal with. You give it to Paypal and they bill your credit card each month.

When I started doing this (mainly to buy from HI) Paypal put a $1,000 limit on my ability to use the credit card. That was their way to try to get me to link to a bank account. However, after a few purchases Paypal gave up and removed the limit.
 
my paypal is linked to my direct debit card, i don't believe in credit cards.
paypal offers similar payment protection to that legally mandated for credit (but not debit) cards here in the UK, so in case of fraud, you get your money back from them.
the person you send the money to with paypal never sees any of your card details or bank details, unlike in a bank transfer.
 
You can checkout with paypal by using the "guest" feature. You wont need to sign up for paypal or give them any information other than payment info. The info isn't stored and only works with that single transaction. You get a transaction number and all the regular recourse paypal offers.

The only trouble you may have with PayPal is the error that pops up from time to time...

Ah Ha Ha Ha Ha!!! I think hes trying to get a FTL (full truck load) discount on his shipping. No point in wasting gas on half truckload.
