Paysan price

This is just out of curiosity. I love Spyderco’s. I already have a heavily modded PM2 and I plan to get more. Most of the time I can easily see why the price for a given knife is where it’s at. I’m stymied at the price of the Paysan. MSRP is $920, vendors selling for just under $650. Why is this model so expensive? It’s made with S90V steel, so of course it’d cost a bit more, but not so much. For over $600 I’m used to seeing a LOT of extras or Damasteel. Can anyone tell me why this knife is so expensive? I really like the look of it, but can’t imagine dropping that much money on it.

IDK but isn't the Paysan an integral? If so, they are hard to make because it is a single piece of Titanium. Integrals used to be really expensive and only a couple of makers would do them. So if this is correct, that would explain a higher-than-normal price. I could be wrong.

Yeah, I mentioned that in my post. But even for a company like WE, titanium integral handles only command a price around $400-$450. And they’re generally much more expensive than Spyderco.

More makers and companies are attempting integrals so the price is coming down. Probably see integrals coming out of Pakistan this year

Designer collaborations always cost more, don’t forget country of origin plays a factor as well. Some good news at least is that this is made in Taiwan and that’s where the best made Spyderco are from.

It’s a highly sought after model, it’s an integral, it’s rather large, it’s made in Taichung with premium materials, which is where most of Spydercos top quality knives are made and also have a strong following. Yes, there are competitors that offer integrals for less but Spyderco is selling this to their Spyderco fan base in my opinion, not to people that happen to be looking for a titanium integral if that makes sense. Not saying it’s worth what they’re asking buuuuuuuut Spyderco seems to be very in tune with what secondary market prices are for their knives. The Paysan was going for $500-$750 for a while and I think they split the difference.

Where in your initial post does it say integral? You said you mentioned it.

So don't. Problem solved.
