for those of you who always wondered how big the pbf's were and wanted to see in hand shots, heres the set. i have them so i can cord wrap them for voracious and thought id take these pictures since ive only seen one such photo before. the 6" pbf is the same size as the satin jack, but pointier (wich ads about 1/2"). its actually very similar to the 1/4 saaber ground satin jack, but with a lower saber grind - making it even stronger.

my first impression of these was "wow, these are a lot thicker then i thought they would be" and then "wow, these are a lot faster in the hand then i thought they would be". the blade catch/bottle opener area is really wide, and seems to concentrate a lot of the weight of the blade just before the hande, giving them a very fast feeling.

the killer bee is almost ludicrously thick feeling, but with a proper edge, it wouldnt be any worse then the public defender, wich can be made into a decent cutter with enough time spend on the sharpening stone.

im quite impressed with them all, and wish they were mine :(. i now understand why people say they would be great camp knives (choppers, super strong build), and i can also see why they would be great fighters (FAST in hand, and very pointy).

just an example. thats just a test wrap, that came out short. a finished wrap would cover a little more of the handle, and would have a more even spiral.

thats the bannister bar, wich would be good on these if they were meant to be fighters. the bannister bar creats a very firm grip for pushing and pulling on the handle, because its a very solid locking spiral, but its pretty harsh on the hand.

if they were meant for regular use, id say the turks head knot reigns supreme for handle a user handle wrap. reletively smooth but gripping surface, 0 chance of slipping off the handle, very little cord shifting (will maintain grid pattern even if shifted (normally only happens on poles)). good stuff.... just waiting on confirmation to start the finish wraps on them.... truly bueatiful knives

That little notch on the top of the 4" makes it look like it's begging for some nice ironwood grips. I may do that if it doesn't get traded off along with the 6". Jody got the 8" and I got something I can carry a bit more easily.

In addition to the obvious roles, they would make good camp knives. Very stout, nicely balanced and sharp to the extreme. Pointy too! One of the 8" bit me just taking it out of the box from Busse. Very under rated knives, but I think that will change as people actually start to use them.

meant to get these in the mail today, but columbus day was in action...

wrapped in the turks head knot style. the 8 and 6"'s handles didnt come out as even as i would have liked, because i was concentrating on getting them even, rather then keeping the x's lined up on the spine wich would ensure an even weave. at the time i didnt even know that that was the case.... this was a learning experience, because its the first time ive done this wrap so tight on a knife.

they've been rebeveled to angles that best suite the knife... the 8" was ground fatter then the rest of them, so the angle had to be a little bit higher, and the tip had to be a higher angle then the rest of the knife. the 4 and 6 are both around 26 degree's, and the 8" is about 28-30. the tip is around 35-40, wich is still better most of the NIB busse's or striders ive handled (and ive handle a fair amoutn of busse's).

good stuff... took a lot longer then i thought it would, wich i appologize for... goin out in the mail tommorow

:) :) :)

WOW!!! Awesome. I've never wanted a PBF more than I do now. I love what you did with the edge too. Those are sweeeeet!

these came out so damn good!!!
extremely scary knives. they look awesome and feel better.
