Need a bit of help guys,

I am trying to install an O/S on a laptop that has a FUBAR optical drive. I have access to a desktop and the laptop has a built in NIC. What I would like to do is network the two PC's and use the drive off the desktop or just be able to copy the installation files and run it from the HD on the laptop.

Issues: Desktop has no floppy bay but I can get a files off another pc that a mate has onto a floppy, the laptop has a floppy drive.

Can anyone give me a pointer, its been a bazillion years since I did Dos stuff, so be gentle! :)

Cheers

I don't think the Laptop will recognize a USB in the state its in. Thanks anyway, I will keep it in mind.

I think you will need to run a remote install rather than just copy them over.

Something line a PXE boot. I've done it a few times with Linux but never windows. It was fairly straight forward with Linux, you configure a FTP server and DHCP server and configure an option on the DHCP server to pass the address of the FTP server to the booting machine, it loads the imagine from there.

On the target machine you configure it to boot from the LAN in the BIOS and it should just work.

This article tells you a bit bout it in Windows, I think you need a Windows server
