Anyone have a good pic of a damascus blade from PCKS? I'm pondering my next knife purchase and am really curious about how it looks.

Also, I'm going to perform a search now and start reading; but does anyone have any preference on Buck's damascus as a daily user? In other words, is it a viable choice for a working knife, not a (dust) collector? From researching damascus in general it seems there is a broad range of steel quality, so just curious as to the strength of the Buck variety.

Thanks.

A couple questions that come to my mind are who makes this damascus, what is the composition, and what is the pattern. Also, is there any possibility of pattern choice? The image that appears on the PCKS design page doesn't seem to have any pattern at all!

Its Daryl Mier damascus, it doesn't get much better. With proper care is a great EDC, just keep it clean and lightly oiled. But be careful, its some sharp sh!t!

From his website:

At Meier Steel we use 1095 and A203e for the majority of the steel produced but we also use W2, 15N20, and pure nickel for some grades.

1095 is good stuff, but what is A203e? I've never heard of it! 1095 and pure Nickel would make a nice contrast, but probably wouldn't make the best user knife.

Any official word on what Buck uses?

Its been such a long time since we purchased damascus but i had always heard it was, indeed, Mier. I tried several searches but was never sucessful in getting that verified positively. Everyone i asked had the same answer though.
Hope this helps,

So to me, not being a steel officianado, what does that tell me?

Is it a good steel for EDC tasks, or am I much better off with ATS43 / BG42?

I have pretty much decided to shy away from damascus for this knife due to the whole "re-etching" thing once it loses it's damascus "look". So I guess this is just out of curiosity for my next PCKS purchase, not this one. ;)

thanks.
