PDA question for computer techs

The batteries in my and my wife's Tungsten E2 PDAs finally died, so I bought replacements online. I put the battery in hers and it works fine. I did everything the same, but if I tighten the bottom right hand screw as I look at the back of the PDA, the unit will no longer shut off. It's only a matter of a half turn between the unit working normally or not.

So, should I leave the screw only partially tightened? Continue trying to figure out what is getting pressed? Buy a Dayrunner?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How 'bout if you stick a little washer in there so you can tighten the screw right up against the washer and it still works properly?

It would have to be a tiny washer, and then it would have to be inside the case of the PDA. I've tried the battery wire in two different positions, thinking that it might be pushing on something, but no dice. As it is, I'm leaving that screw loose, but I'm not sure if that's a good idea long term.

 Is there a problem?

You can't leave a screw loose; it'll either come off and get lost or tighten up. Either a washer or loktite will make it stay where it is.

Where did you find the battery for the E2? I have an E2 that won't hold a charge very long. Thanks.

Jim,
I just googled Tungsten E2 battery or something similar. Bought the battery from batteryship.com, who included a few tools necesary to do the swap. There are others as well. If you go to youtube, do a search and you'll find a video with instructions for battery changing.

 I'm not looking for a mechanical solution, because I don't think that will solve the problem. What I'm looking for is someone with an idea of what might be getting pressed on the circuit board that would cause this.
