Unfortunately, my Calypso Jr. PE LtWt., that was sent back to Spyderco a couple of weeks ago, has been found terminally ill and won't be coming back home. :(

BUT, Mike has advised me, as many of you may know, that I have the MSRP value of the Calypso as credit towards another Spydie to take its' place. The SpyderHawk is a little more in the MSRP, but I'll gladly throw in the difference to pick up one of these as my new work EDC. Maybe I'll get lucky and get one of those EnduraHawks. :D

For you EnduraHawk/SpyderHawk fans, what do you think of this Spydie?

Harry,
the Calypso Jr. had a chip/crack right on the pivot steel. I guess that it was more serious than what I thought. The letter that I received from Spyderco/Mike said that it was defective, thus the replacement/substitution offer in place of the Calypso.

Sorry to hear about your Calypso Jr not coming back home. Hopefully you'll get an Endura handle on your new 'Hawk. :)

I don't own a Spyderhawk but I do have an observation about my Merlin that may relate. Tip-up is all wrong for a knife like this (IMO). Too much blade spine hangs out and it makes the knife sit all wrong when clipped to my pocket. I would imagine the situation to be much more pronounced with a Spyderhawk. But my Merlin is too much of a cutter to sit in a drawer, so I've been exploring some alternate methods of carry.

Sorry about your Calypso Jr...at least you can still pick up one in SE if you are interested. As far as the Spyderhawk goes I figure it like this, the Merlin is great, but since bigger is better...well, I'll let you do the math ;)
Matt

I have my fingers crossed that I'll be able to get a 'Hawk with an Endura handle. :D
