Hi all,

There used to be a forum member who sold Peanut Lighters. I bought some from him close to 4 years ago and my last has finally given up the ghost. Anyone remember his name? I know I can get them elsewhere, but he had a great deal and I would like to support a forum member.

Thanks

Mike

They can't really die unless you kill them in some way. You can replace the wick and flint. What else can go wrong?

You wound me sir, by underestimating my ability to destroy and hurt myself. I have more cuts and scratches than an emo kid. I only get to take the cork off of my fork on special events.

All my friends have scars! :)

If you look around the dealextreme site, you'll also find the peanut lighter with the flat bottom so it can be used as a candle. It's probably what I'd get.

You've seen the split pea version--right? It's about half the size. See it here: http://www.countycomm.com/splitpea.htm

MutedRaccoon may be right about quality. I don't know because I only have the dealextreme version. I bought 4 or 5 several years ago, and gave all but 1 away. As far as I know, all are still working fine. I know mine is.

I'd spend the extra and go with County Comm myself. Easier to deal with and not known counterfeiters.

This was the package deal right? Like 4 lighters for $20 or something plus extra flints and o-rings?

I think I have his card around here somewhere. Give me a bit to go searching.

The peanut lighters look cool, not a bad deal for $11 or so. The deal extreme site is really cheap, but not sure on the quality of them. That and if it takes a month to get it, I may lose interest by the time the things arrives.

Well, I found the lighters but not the card.

I think the guy was on Candlepowerforums.com but it's been a long time.

Oregon was the guy selling the lighters here and on CPF. I got a bunch from him before I started getting them direct myself.

I got one from countycomm.com a while ago and its a really nice lighter.

The fluid doesn't dry up fast like the zippo lighters do.

It took my last order from DX 28 days to get from them to the proxy I used. (I ship things to a friend who then forwards them to me, as otherwise I'd never get the package).

I've had orders come as quick as 18 days though. Best advice to you is this...get one from both and compare the quality.

I make regular orders from DX (mainly on keychain lights) and I wait until I have a good sized order [though this actually causes it to take longer as they need to get the items from the factories that make them]. I find its worth it if you get 5-6 items to make the order and just wait for them rather then order one or two things and just need it now.

Quality of DX varies by the item, the keychain lights though do have some issues are great items...I go through around a hundred of them a year due to me giving most of them away or selling them ($1.00 for one from me or $4.00 from the other place). Other items aren't so great, but for the most part its rather decent.

You can find great little things like USB soundcard alternatives, and bluetooth dongles, and other computer items that are priced for a few bucks (replacement ipod cables especially) that aren't super ultra great quality but are high enough quality that you could find them in chain stores as the "budget to mid-end" product.

All makes sense. Kind of like woot.com lol, except you can get something you actually want/need. Still takes forever to get though.

Takes a long time but its worth it.

DX keychain lights are a big thing for me as I give out/sell a ton and the wait is really worth it, same with other things like dongles.

I could spend $4 for a keychain light and get it now...Or I could wait and get it in a couple weeks and get 10 of them for just slightly less then what I'd pay in a store for just a single one...I think I can wait a bit for em.

Like I said, just look around the DX site and I'm sure theres several things your interested in. Put together a order (chances are 5-6 items will still be well under $30 :D) and then forget about it....Then in a two or so weeks when you get it your in for a real treat.

I love getting DX boxes (from my proxy) as its like x-mas for me. All the neat crap I got for dirt cheap. Most of my good buddies know about DX from me and make orders the same way I do (a bunch of stuff you want, but don't need this second) and then when they get it its a big treat. One of my buddies first time I showed him DX he put together a order that ended up being 200$ which was a MASSIVE box of stuff he got, and when he got it man it was like a little kid on christmas morning with wrappers and stuff all over the place. He had forgotten what exactly he had ordered (as two hundred bones at DX buys a ton of stuff) so he was pulling things out of the boxes all excited.

Just a FYI to anyone ordering from DX

DO NOT ORDER LAZER POINTERS, AIRSOFT GUNS, OR TRITIUM FROM THEM

First off the Lazer Pointers arent very good and not correct specs as listed customs has been taking a bunch of them (when shipped to USA). The Airsoft guns don't have markings needed so customs also has been having a field day with those.

And as for tritium...well its overpriced as sin (and again customs doesn't like it) so its better to order from CPF, I use B@RT or Merkava for my orders. Merkava's NITE keychains are decent but no where near as durable as iknitsteels [http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?t=195648], However Merkava's USA shipping track record is excellent, and B@RT is the go to guy for raw tritium vials.

Merkava & B@RT's sale threads can be found here, just remember GITD = Glow In The Dark and it isn't tritium]

If you don't find him, countycomm has some. They call them split-pea lighters.

Thanks for all the info! Had my eye on tritium vials and such for a while, might actually buy one lol. Might try out DX, the story about your friend is great. Rarely happens, but when I do order a bunch of stuff at once it is always exciting.
