Hot water, WD40, 0000 steel wool, a rag, a toothpick, and some vinegar. Before and after. Granted the lighting is different but you can see the difference between before and after.

I'll cleanup/sharpen the edges after the missing scale is replaced (part 3).

That 'nut has so many years of life still in it, it's going to make someone a very nice little pocket knife. You're doing a wonderful thing, bringing back a peanut from the brink.:thumbup:

Looking good! You cleaned it up nicely while still retaining the original character of the knife - good job! Looking forward to seeing the scale replacement!
 
This one will go to my nephew, John, my twin brother's son, when he graduates from university.
