Just a little over a month ago I posted some pics of a Buck Custom Shop pearl handle dagger /letter opener. Well, today I added the first buck knife to my collection. She's 7" OVAL with a 3-5/8" blade, and tapered tang. The previous owner said it wasn't sharpened and the thought was that it was a letter opener because of the unusual blade grind. I'm not so sure about that now. It weighs in at 4.7 ounces...right at 1/3 pound. A little heavy for a letter opener The MOP scales are 2-7/8" long, 3/4" wide and nearly 1/4" thick. The blade isn't sharpened but it has a sharp point...With the flat grind bevel, and the 1/3 pound weight,it would sure be a wicked little stabber. The makers initals are on the side of the tang...a pair of stacked 'D's I'm hoping to take it to the Buck Plant in Post Falls this week or next and see what they can tell me about it. Any info on the knife or the maker sure would be appreciated.

Doug - Your new dagger looks great. DD is for Dean Davidson who used to work in the custom shop. Nice knife. It looks much better in your pictures.

Glad you got your hands on it and that it worked out for you.

Awesome that you got it! That thing is pretty sweet. Congrats!
I'm still sticking with my original opinion that it's a letter opener. Not sharpened and flat on one side...
One awesome letter opener, though!
I couldn't have it in my office. It will make everything else look horrible!

Many boot knives are designed to be flat on one side. Sort of like the Sgian Dubh. But either way, that's pretty awesome. Those handles look great.

It is flat on the one side. I didn't know that some boot knives were flat on one side but it sure has the weight and feel of a boot knife. It's great laying my desk here...you don't even notice the mess around it. Thanks for all the good words. I appreciate them.

I appreciate the name. By the way, I've heard that if you take your Buck to the factory, they will sharpen it for free...makes a guy think....

Thanks, she is mighty pretty. I was able to work out a deal with the owner and the buyer where I got that knife separate from the collection. A little consideration for the time I put into helping get the deal done. I'm sure that the buyer of the collection will be posting pictures when he's ready...wouldn't be right to steal his thunder...

Go on Bucks web site and I beleive the "Your Knife" section and they will give you detail's about sharpening your knife. They say they will sharpen any unabused Buck (only) knife for under $7.00 with return shipping. That's a pretty dood deal!
