Well, i think my title is pretty straightforward. I am interested in knowing how you feel about the work of Pease and Centofante, i have heard each referred to as "masters", how do you think they compare to the true masters like Horn, Lake, Hodgson, Hoel, Busfield, Johnson etc. Pease and Centofante's prices are generally not at that lofty level, but in my, admittedly limited experience, owning one of each, its hard to imagine a higher quality knife. But, id like to hear opinions of others who have owned, or examined a Pease or Centofante closely. I do believe that each offers excellent value, very high quality for a relatively reasonable price. Thoughts?

Megalobyte,
Bill Pease and Frank Centofante are masters in their own right !
I have owned and still own knives by these talented makers. As a matter of fact I have owned over 100 of W.D.'s knives not nearly as many of Frank's.
In 1978 when I first bought one of Bill's three finger boot knives I knew I was hooked. His workmanship was great back then and only has gotten better over the years. Fit,finish, choice of handle materials, blade style, handle style and his side lock all add up to a work of art.
When stag was readly available Bill would spend hours at the shows picking what he considered the cream of the crop.
In my opinion you will be very pleased with a knife from either of these two makers.

I have never seen a Pease knife that I didn't like. He must have some kind of stag stash, because all his stag knives have some of the nicest amber stag ever!

Not a darn thing you'll here that's negative about those guys Megalobyte..., really top notch stuff...

I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a side-lock folder from Frank Centofante at the Blade Show. The only descriptive phrase I can think of for the workmanship on this knife is "simply amazing."

What Jocko said. He's killing me with all those Pease knives but I've had and have quite a few. I've only owned a couple of Franks but the workmanship is superb.

Bill and Frank are two of the nicest and most approachable makers around. Neither has an Internet presence yet sell everything they make, and have waiting lists. Bill Pease is my favorite maker, hands down. The workmanship is awesome, even his small fixed blades are terrific, and quite a bargain today.

Honestly, if you want investment quality buy a Lake. The fellow is an innovator, thats the go to guy. Buying a custom Tactical folder buy an Emerson. Nice guy, started it all, why buy a follower. The list goes on, in the end the big boys are the winners.

Buy a Pease, Centofante, Horn, Johnson etc., hold it and it will appreciate, but not like the others.

The real pleasure comes from working with the maker, call one up talk to him about what you'd like. All the fellows you mention still make knives, I believe. You can get a truly unique knife from these fellows, there is great satisfaction in having the only one.

Danbo, Bill's Stag inventory is to kill for. Imagine if you could just order one of everything in Stag from Bill. HMMMM!
