Don't ever take a scan at 2400DPI unless you gots lots of hard drive open...lol

While not yet in G2's scanning league I thought this scan came out well! All four from W.D.Pease.

Really nice looking knives. Your scan is nicely done.

Sammy, those Pease knives are beautiful and the scans are very good. They could stand a little Sharpening in an image editing program, but that's getting picky.

What make and model scanner did you get?
As soon as I get some cash I want to get one of the Epson scanners.

Thanks guys. I was pleased.

Phill,

I hate to admit it but it was a $40 dollar 4800 USB scanner from Sam's Club. It is seriously fun but can generate 6 Gig scans if you don't look at the settings :0

That is (except for the bevel) a 150 dpi scan changed to 72 dpi with no other change. I may rerun it through photoshop to sharpen it up a bit though:)

Don't mean a thing, if it ain't got that SWING!

Gawgeous set, there, Sam! Just the right size to go in a nice, clean sock...

PS--I'm no expert, but you might try a little more neutral background for your scanning. Looks like that light background is causing the scanner to underburn a little, so you're not getting enough light transmission off the knives themselves, especially darker areas of the handles.

PPS-Or it could be my crappy monitor!!! LOL

I'll buy a brand new pair, and double wrap that sucker for you! How can you beat a deal like that?

I am a complete novice at the scanner thing... I was going to try some different cloths for backgrounds and see if it helped with the look. I bet you would double wrap that puppy! Tell you what, you pick you favorite from these and I will trade you:0 ... :);)

Someone will jump on that bad boy soon enough. It is one fine lookin blade!

You're too easy, Sam. I couldn't take advantage of you that way, but I'll keep a clean pair of socks ready, just in case.

Great looking knives Sammy.., thanks for the pictures...

I agree.

Mr Pease made one balisong and then swore them off as to complicated.

Oh well.

Scanners have really come down in price dramatically, but some of the new, inexpensive ones don't have much depth of focus which makes them less useful for knives.

Mr. York is also correct to point out that a darker background will help bring out more character in the handle materials. Cloths tend to sort of drape over the materials when scanning and sort make the knives look smothered by the cloth. One trick is to simply turn the scanner upside down. Another is just to use a stiff background, a piece of construction paper from a local art supply house, for example.

Thanks Chuck. I guess it is time to get in the kids's closet and play with construction paper. The depth of field on a 40 dollar scanner may not match a 250 dollar scanner but on a lark it is working o.k.
