It had been a while since I last got to the island...
But thankfully, my brother just got a boat, so yesterday we took it for its maiden voyage.

Here is the mighty craft right here (He got the boat brand new at a yard sale for $7.50):

Turns out there was also a boat on the island already:

Although, it might not be seaworthy anymore...

Batonning action (because why not :)):

View from hidden glen to the main docking area:

Boat on dock:

View facing back to Windsor:

Caterpillar hanging around the dock:

Tall tree:

My brother's boots and extra pants hanging to dry:

Fire beginnings:

Scenic:

More fire:

A couple of knives:

I used the blue handled knife for everything...chopping, batonning, carving AND to move coals around:

As night approaches, the racoons emerge:

We got back to shore just as the sun went down; we were wearing head-lamps, but managed to just avoid having to use them.
For all the tree lovers out there, there was an enormous dead tree that had fallen over, so all wood came from it other than the random deadwood found when going to and from the tree itself.

Having the river right there made putting the fire out completely easy as hell, although it burned out just as cooking finished anyway; still, we figured it's better to make sure of things rather than set the island ablaze.

Looks like fun staby. A guy has to get some tool use in wherever he can find it. Jeez that raccoon looked half tame.

I think they get fed a lot by people that visit the island, especially around the dock area.

I want to see the picture of you two crossing the river....lol
