Do pictures do this handle material justice? I love the look of carbon fiber, which is why I've been inerested in the Gayle Bradley and Sage 1, but I love some other designs that only come in Peel ply. Pictures I've seen online make it look like checkered g10. Does it look nicer in person or is that really how it looks?

In person I think it's one of the finest handle materials out there. It's very grippy and looks much more elegant than G10. Using Google Images, I found this gallery, which I think shows it well. I also have a few knives with smooth CF (a Spyderco Walker, Chicago, and Cat), and it's not nearly as nice as peel-ply IMO.

this is no peel ply CF. peel ply is a surface texture. in fact it's the surface texture of most G10 slabs.

it's not the most "visible" CF out there, it'll mostly look black but you'll see the pattern "under" the texture. more subtle than polished CF but waaay more grippy than polished CF as on caly 3 and whatever you want to call the laminate used on the sage and bradley etc ...

Checkered G10 is about how it looks. You can sand the scales some and get more of the carbon fiber look. The more you sand the better it looks. You can leave some of the texture or take it down till its smooth and polished. I lost (actually it was my wife) the only knife I had done that to so I can't post a picture. It was my S90V Para 2 which is now at the bottom of the gulf, RIP.

Here is a pic of a couple CF Militaries. The S90v in the middle has it's pp cf polished. The bg42 at the top has the factory finish. Don't know if that helps or not (not the greatest pic). Grippy is good but polished looks great IMHO. I bought it from Murdok72605 who I believe did the work - 1600 grit.

Wow that definitely looks awesome! Idk if I could bring myself to do that to one if I got it though. I'd be too afraid to mess up such an expensive knife.

You and me both :). Like I said I bought it that way. I had a NIB S90v and sold it before the prices went crazy. Figured I'd keep this one.

Just picked up an s90v para 2 on the exchange. We'll see if I like it or not. Paid $275 which seems about right for the market on them right now. I don't mind because I was ready to pay ~$200 for a 20p version but wanted to do the carbon fiber.

You won't be disappointed with the s90v Para 2, awesome knife. Mine is just below the bg42 Millie in the pic.

not my pic, but I think this macro shot captures really nice the grain of the peel ply CF on the Military

IMHO, and with only rare exceptions, photos don't even come close to doing it justice. For that matter, even the Sage style CF suffers some loss of depth in a photo. Taken further, any handle material that has depth to it not going to show that in photos the way it would in person. Shell, horn, chatoyant woods, stones like tiger's eye all suffer the same loss of depth to some extent.
