Hello,

I have started a first chapter on reviewing my Spyderco Nilakka on my little blog:

It has taken me some time before to have the chance to own a Nilakka. At first like I have written it, I was not really sure the choice of steel was the good one for this design.
Now, let's say that I don't minde "that" much. The grind is thin and microbevelled. It's not a zero grind anymore. But anyway I have also bought a Pekka Tuominen fixed blade and it's not a Zero Ground blade but a gently convexed edge in RWL34.
Here is a pic of that fixed blade:

The edge of this Hunter by Pekka is very pragmatic. It's made to be reliable and high in performance. My frinds hunters will not use it on wood but on hairs. And rabbit hairs are great at dulling blades. I also used that Pekka honed blade on butchering the rabbit with no damage to the blade.

Hard wood and dry bambu have been cut with its folder cousin: my Nillaka. No damage to the blade so far. I've been pushcutting rods of chesnust wood too with easy and steady results. The blade sunk deep in the fibers of wood and I was abale to twist the handle to remove big chips. So far so good. I'm also very impressed by the ergos of that folder. It's very versatile from strong pushcuts to delicate works. Now I need more mileage. It will come in the next chapter.

cheers
Nemo
