Here it is closed image.jpg contents picture ; image.jpg List of contents ; leatherman new wave , 12 aquramira water puro tabs , a few ear buds , some canvas band aids , a big lighter , Aussie handmade signal mirror , small led lenser torch , 25 pro force NATO matches in vial , emergency blanket , some thread and needle , two blocks of wet fire , about two metres of 550 paracord , external compass and whistle. Now potential upgrades to changes I can make ; I have 25 litre bin bags , 50 metres of Hootchie cord , and a Chapstick . Any comments or suggestions ? I built this as a last ditch kit and it fits nicely into my cargo pants pocket

I want to replace the green bic with a flouro one I've paracord wrapped , (easily fit) add a few of the trash bags folded up for ponchos or water collection , add some Hootchie cord, and Hootchie cord the striker to the fire steel . But I'll have to see how good my Storeman skills are at packing . Also that's a few strips of duct tape stuck in the lid to repair the emergency blanket if I have to

image.jpgimage.jpgCan't work out how to delete pics. But here's one of it packed back up

An alcohol prep pad or two to help prevent infection before you put the bandaids on. Spare battery. Emergency whistle. Small compass. Tweezers. Spare cash. Not sure how much more you could fit.

If you look to the left hand side rail there is a small whistle and compass attached. The alco pads and cash are a good idea though. This lives in my EDC pack and I wanted it to something I could put in a cargo pants pocket

I'd be inclined to replace the para cord with hootchie cord - much thinner so you can fit a lot more in. Also if you can cram a triangular bandage in there it's a good idea - wound dressing, bandage or sling.

A bandana to help filter water and a fishing hook and line. I like the addition of the fire steel. Waves are awesome. A more streamlined version may save space/weight and still provide the essential tools you would need. A square of foil could be formed into a cup to boil more questionable water.

I have Wednesday coming up off work , I'll swap the cord . I've got a small first aid kit I no longer carry , might find some Alco wipes in that . What pound fishing line do I want ? How long , and what sorta fishing hook should I be looking into? As for a bandana is there a certain type or is it just the fabric content I want to look at ?

Depends on what your catching. Trot line, yoyo.gill net are other options. Paracord and even dental floss can be used. Since you are removing the paracord consider a bracelet.anklet or key fob. The bandana wont make the water safe but it will help to remove the debris in the water and can be used for other things as well. Consider swaping the chapstick for vasiline lip balm. It will have the addd use of wound care and when saturated with a cotton ball makes a good fire starter. If you are able to wear the leatherman on your belt you may be able to fit a snare or learn how to make one with the paracord. An edc is personalized to you and your purpose. Do you need it for edc for things you may need during the day ie basic first aid, just to get you to your bob/get home bag in your car or to get you by if you can't get to your car may alter some of your choices. A compact sas survival handbook will fit in the sheath of the leatherman or a few bandaids and my firesteel fits on the side. With that said practice, practice, practice. Its all dead weight if you if your not able to use it when the time comes.

I added the alco pads , I've decided to leave the rest of the kit the way it is I can't seem to cram anymore gear into it. This just a last ditch kit.

Make sure the pads are 70% alcohol and not 100% or they dont lyse cell walls and kill bacteria.

Do you have something in which to hold the water while you purify it? One or two freezer bags (1 quart) might fit in your case.
