Built myself a small Psk , housed in a 1020 pelican case. It has ; the older model lmf army fire steel , 25 storm proof matches , a bic lighter , tiny led lenser torch, emergency blanket , a few chicken treat wipes, about two metres of 550 parachute cord, a signal mirror , two blocks of wet fire , a leather man new wave, some sewing thread and a sewing needle , some canvas band aids , a whistle off my the bear grylls knife, and a small compass , some water puro tabs. And I still have room for painkillers and anti histamines , The kit weighs less then a kilo , I think I've done the basics right?

I made one in a Maxpedition mini pocket organizer. Beyond what you have I have some foil and zip ties in mine and a large heavy duty trash bag for a makeshift poncho, shelter or something.

instead of 550 cord, you could add "hoochie" cord from any surplus store near you. its plenty strong, and much thinner, so you'll get much more length. otherwise, a really good start. what part of Oz are you?

Add fish hooks. They're really hard to make good ones out of natural materials and they take up almost no room in a kit.
