I recently received a Pelican M6 Lithium flashlight as a gift. I was wondering if anyone else had one, comments, how they compare to Surefires.

I haven't had a chance to run it through the paces, but so far I can tell that this is one solid, rugged flashlight; not to mention very bright. I wish it came with a clip like my Surefire E2 but it does come with a heavy duty, quality belt holster.

On a side note if you are looking for a flashlight that makes a good kubaton this one definitely fits the bill.

I have one and it compares favorably with my Surefire 6P. It's a little heavier but seems a little brighter. Mine is in my bug out bag at the moment. Overall a good light.

I would recommend checking out CandlePowerForums to see all the info on it. I handled one and it does feel nice and solid and I hear it has good throw to it. I wasn't able to test out the light since I was in the store during the day, though. I have heard some things about the tailswitch not being the greatest, and that was my first observation when I tried it out. The switch could be a little better, but all in all it was a pretty good light--especially at that price point. I plan on buying one in the future.

I ordered my M6 at the same time as my E2e. It's seems like a solidly built light, not quite to SF standards but quality nontheless. Mine doesn't receive a huge amount of use, as it sits in my pick-up as an emergency light. Price wise, I love the M6's price compared to most lithium high output lights out there.

The brightness blows away my 3D Maglite. Once I discovered the power of modern lights like Pelicans, S-Fs, and Arcs, I doubt I will ever buy another Maglite again, even though I grew up with them.

It depends on how you use the light. If you want a light with a very good throw, the M6 is one of the best. The E series of surefires will have a better spill than the M6 though. Between the two, M6 is for medium to long distance work while the E series SF are for short and medium distance jobs. Go candlepowerforums and search for the review of brighnorm. It will basically give you an idea on how the M6 suits are particular task.

Yeah, I want to get my hands on that 5W M6 mod and a "clickie" tailswitch as well. I love his ingenuity.

Are your M6's marked as to the country of manufacture? The Pelican website states "Made in the USA", but one dealer I spoke with indicated otherwise.

For the money, the Pelican is a good little light, adn compares favorably to the SL Scorpion, and ASP TRIAD. Construction is a few points below a Surefire. Beam quality is also a bit spotty, but is still very usable.

Flashlight Lens sells clickie switch conversions and a glass lens for the PM-6. I highly recommend the glass lens.

I have been hearing about some problems with the clickie from Flashlightlens--I don't think I'd recommend getting it until they've worked out their problems. Their lens is probably good, though.
