Pelican M6

Much more throw.

My wife has one. It's a very nice light for $30. Very good throw, best in it's size/voltage class. Pretty good build quality, focusable (for better or worse), and a good candidate for mods :) Nice on/off button, too.

Did I mention cheap?! :D

I'd give it a thumbs up.

Here are some cons when compared to surefires:

Size: it is a little too big to keep in your pants pocket comfortably like a Surefire e2e or L4. No clip. Good for jacket carry.

No pyrex lens: Not a necessity, but nice to have.

No hard anodizing

If you don't need or want these features the M6 is a great light.
It throws a huge useful beam. My other conventional flashlight seem silly and anemic next to it.

Who sells the M6 for $30? I want another one.

BTW, I contacted Pelican and questioned the lumen rating.

The rated output is 74 lumens not 108 as it is found on the pelican website. The box is printed with the wrong 108 lumen information.

As mentioned above, great light for the money. The quality could be a little better but it is still good. Really good throw for a light of its size, but the beam isn't as nice as a Surefire beam (at least not the G2 or E2). I gave one to my friend for her birthday but I put a clickie switch on it and a lens with Lexan Diffusing film on it to smooth out the beam a little.

The PM6 is also focusable--it's not that helpful, but it is a plus.

Check out CandlePowerForums for more reviews on it.

I bought a silver one and a black one. When I got them I took them apart( standard male curiosity) and one of the bulbs seezed halfway out. A little 3in1 oil and a Spyderench got it out but the threads on the bulb were destroyed. The threads on the body of the light faired better and were able to be cleaned up with a knife blade. I emailed Pelican, told them my story and asked how much a replacement would be( I figured I was the one that put wrench to it so I'd buy it).

The next day they called me on the phone and said to send them the bulb and a dollar for shipping. I did and they sent me a replacement very promptly. Satisfied customer.

I think that for the money these are great lights. The retail cost of replacement bulbs is way cheaper than Surefire too.

Also, Zenghost, where did you get the clicky tailcap and lense?
Got the Kroll PM6 clickie at The Sandwich Shoppe--it's a little on the expensive side ($16.50), but I like the clickie better. And just a warning, some of the PM6 tailswitches come apart real easy, but some are an absolute pain to disassemble (check out CPF for more info on that).

The lens came from FlashlightLens. The one I got is the B270 w/LDF (PM6 is the 29.4mm size). That's $7.50 (shipping included).

A little pricey, but makes the light better in my opinion. Also, there was supposedly going to be an LED version of the PM6 coming out sometime, but haven't heard anything about that in awhile.

From what I have heard and read, M6 is a great flashlight. For $30, you clearly can't have any complaints. A modified M6 is even greater, according to the hardcore flashoholics!!!
