So I've been looking for a better way to store batteries for flashlights, remote controls, cameras, etc. I won't store too many batteries at once because they just go bad and it's a waste of money. I've seen lots of knife picture that have a background featuringwhat looks like a Pelican 1020 microcase with CR123A battieries.
Do any of you use these cases for this purpose? Maybe a first aid kit of some sort? Storage for small screws, bolts, nuts, etc? I'd appreciate some ideas or suggestions. Pictures always help too.

Stick anything you want in there !! One of mine has my multimeter in it when I have it in my truck. Ammo storage .

I hadn't thought of that (ammo), excellent idea. I'm going to try out the 1020 or 1030 for a flashlight and spare batteries.

i have one with a foam insert for batteries.

its at work in my warbag, but ill get some pics of it if you like.

Was your foam insert pre-cut with the holes? If so, please divulge your source....I've been looking for some of those for my pelican 1040 cases.

Like this one? It came from batterystation.

A pic would be cool if it isn't a pain Morimotom.

That looks like what I had in mind Rycen. What kind of CR123 batteries are those?

I do a lot of fishing, wading in streams. I have one that holds my Iphone and fishing license. Wallet stays in the car. Everything else in my bag can get wet. I haven't fallen yet, but if you have ever been wading in a stream, you know that it can get slippery.

yes, pre-cut. i think i got it at botach. but i would not recommend ordering from them. i am able to walk in to buy stuff.

no problem. i'll get it up today.

mine is larger than that one.

I think Pelican cases are too bulky, heavy, expensive, and lacking in organization for stuff like a first aid kit, or storing parts and batteries. Plano makes boxes a lot better for those things, and a lot cheaper. They make good use of space, you can customize the compartment sizes with the included dividers, and they stack well in a drawer if you've got a bunch of them. Got several that get used for flashlight parts, battery organization, organizer in a small drawer, Dremel tool bits...

I use Pelican cases for carrying a Pila IBC and other chargers in a bag that gets thrown around, cameras that aren't shockproof and waterproof while hiking or kayaking, things like that. Lots of uses for them, too.

I use Pelican cases with the velcro dividers for camera gear, I have about 15 of the larger models (1550-1650) full of lighting/cameras/etc. That said, they are heavy, which didn't used to be a problem, but airlines these days see every pound as a dollar symbol.

Using smaller ones for batteries would be fine, but batteries aren't exactly fragile so I'm not sure how a Pelican case would be better than a Zip-Loc bag.

Consider also for smaller items the unexpanded 2 liter bottles like this. They are very durable; you could probably run over one with your car without damaging it.

The plano boxes with the red gasket in them are money. Damn near the durability of a 1020 pelican and 1/2 price. Also you can see the contence.

Thanks Rycen!!

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I already have a bunch of small Pelican cases, but I don't have any inserts!! I'm definitely going to order a few of those.

Those were batterystation brand. Here are some other cases

 That is awesome. I've been looking for the Eneloop batteries too. I might have to pick up some CR123s there. Thanks for the tip.

That is what I thought at first, nothing to stop the stuff from being sloshed around. I have a small Plano box that I use at work. I have it filled with drywall anchors, screws, RJ45 ends, RJ11 ends, motherboard jumpers, etc.(work stuff odds and ends). It works great for that stuff and it was only like $5 at a sporting good store (clearance bin).

I'd love to see a picture of that. Sounds interesting.

Mr. Noodle, when I purchased my Embassy Pen from endtimesreport, the store owner wrapped the pen in one of those. It's very cool indeed. It can hold a plethora of small articles. What to store in there is the tough part.

 Awesome. As you can tell, I'm kind of a neat freak. I'll be moving into a new house soon (I hope) and this is a good time to get organized. I like to have everything accounted for whenever possible.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions and feedback.

My bro in law works at a plastics injection molding co that makes these so he's been bringing some for me. They don't make the caps though so I have to save my soda bottle caps for these.

oooh you my friend have a very good resource there, i just purchased a few of these preformed tubes from ebay for a couple bucks..they are awesome little tubes..

and as far as otter boxes and pelican, plano makes these as well for a fraction of the cost. they are called the plano guide series water proof case.

Yeah I got lucky with that one, I've bought them online in the past too. He manages the machinery that makes them and has access to the test samples they run and is supposed to bring me some in different sizes.

Pelican cases are completely waterproof and almost bombproof. For this degree of protection, you pay a relatively big chunk of money. Paying this big chunk of money to store batteries in your home seems silly. Any (much cheaper) plastic box should work as well. Others have made good recommendations. My only recommendation is to NOT use a Pelican case for simple in-house storage.

(Pelican cases are well worth the money under the right circumstances.)
