Pelican Tool Chests

I think I've previously mentioned to you that I share your liking of Pelican cases. I had not seen that one and just today was looking at a tool chest at Costco. I'll have to scope out the cost. 33 lbs is pretty heavy but you wouldn't have to worry about the security of the contents.

Thanks for letting everyone know about this new case!

Nice isn't that the case for the General Mechanics Tool Kit? They are indestructible.
I'd like to get the whole setup, but they are both expensive and hard to come by.

Peter

how much does that run for? I gotta get an organizer for track days... gearing up for springtime right now

Its has to be said........... I really have a thing for Peli Cases, here in the UK they're pretty pricey, but I got some in a sale......... then got some more........ then more still!

To be honest, 17 of 'em, in yellow and black, is simply not enough!

I have no need to truck my Snap-0n's any place, but I still want one of those tool chests....... I know you understand!

Just wanted to share in the Pelican love-fest.

1550s. Can haul a week's worth of groceries or camping gear across the continent.

As for the tool case, it looks sweet. There's something about these boxes that just clicks, or should I say, snaps.

:D

So if Bushman5 will pardon a little thread drift, where have you biked with those Pelican "saddlebags"? Looks like a cool setup for rugged roads.

I'll quench a little curiosity, but for the sake of the thread, email me if you'd like more info.

I've only been riding for a year, so, as for now, my most "epic" trip would be:

The Pelicans I use are slightly modified with internal locks, a rack system, elastic retention straps on the inside, and cables to keep them from opening past 90 degrees for when they're on the side of the bike. www.cariboucases.com

YOUR THE ONE! i have seen pics of that same bike and pelican cases somewhere else on the net!

got closeups of the mounting system?

:thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

I'll try to get pics of the mounting system today or tomorrow. I can't promise anything though.

As far as the tube, it's where I keep my tools (tire repair stuff, random wrenches/screwdrivers/vicegrips). Lowers the center of gravity a bit and works alright as highway pegs.

Bushman, one of these days when I'm in Vancouver, we'll have to get together.

As promised, a couple pics of the mounting system.

Mounted in 3 places: a bracket on the front (right), a "U" shaped bracket on the back (left) that fits over a rubber nub on the frame, and a flat bracket on the top where the compression lock fits.

Top view of the locking knob. It's nice 'cause I can just unlock and remove from the bike. The bike is parked in underground parking, so very little is left on it when I'm in my apartment.. Too many folks with tools and sticky fingers..

Sorry for the threadjack. Maybe I should get one of them tool cases for the luggage rack behind my seat!

Travis

I think that would call for a double strength rear spring!
