Pemberton vs. Peanut.......comparison pics

My GEC Pemberton arrived in the mail yesterday and I thought I'd compare it to one of my Case Peanuts.
Both knives have their own "personality" and feel. The Pemberton, a coke bottle design; The Peanut, a serpentine. I really can't say that one is better than the other. They're both great knife designs.

EDIT.....One thing more. I wish Case would locate the nail nick where they used to have it, closer to the kick. I really dislike where it is now, not to mention that the cut is too shallow. Advantage to the Pemberton for having a perfect nail nick.

Here are six pics comparing the two......

Thanks for the pics. I was unsure about the Pemberton model but I'm not anymore.

Pemberton for the win! Really though it is personal choice but for harder use the Pemberton is hard to beat. My Case CV is great but has developed some blade wobble that I need to fix at some point.

Great comparison photos!

Gives a very good perspective of the two similar knives, and the almost exact lengths. I can see where the Pemberton would give you a bit more to hang onto if you have large hands.

One thing that still surprises me is that the two-blade Pemberton (bone-covered, anyway-- I won't vouch for stag) is actually an oonch thinner than a regular, two-bladed Peanut.

Here are some more comparison pictures and impressions from an early Pemberton thread:

Again with the Peanut

This is inaccurately eyeballed, but it's still a decent representation of about how much of Mr. Peanut can be seen o'er the top of the Pemberton if they're lined up correctly:

I wasn't familar with the pemberton until i read this thread. i might have to go and buy one now. thanks

That Northfield is fantastic.
What model/pattern is the other case knife?

I have a stag Northfield Pemberton...two bladed model. The stag is very thick on the knife. Great snap, love the profile of the main clip blade. The only gripe I have about the knife is the nail nick on the main blade. The main blade is situated behind the pen blade, and the both nail nicks face the same direction. If you cut your finger nails too short, like I do, there isn't enough length to reach the main blade nick. Minor gripe, and one easily rectified. Otherwise, I like it better than either of my 'nuts. You know what I mean :D

Thanks! I meant to mention the first time, your pictures above are very clear and helpful.

I just wanted to present the two-bladed Pemberton comparison again as well.

It's a Case wharncliffe Tiny Trapper-- emphasis on tiny. Here it is again with the Peanut and a Mini Copperhead:

I prefer just about everything on the Pemberton except for the blade layout. I really like the side that the Peanut places the pen blade, and I also like the nail knicks on opposing sides. Just personal preference, though. It's probably more efficient the way GEC does it.

Those stinking mini copperheads will wiggle their way into every small knife thread. :D Sneaky little devils. But seriously, that trio of Case knives in blue bone is just marvelous. Did they make the Pemberton with that blue acrylic yet?

I have one of the Pembertons identical to the one in the OP and it is a fine, a very fine, small knife.

It looks like the single-blade Pemberton is the same thickness as the (two-blade) peanut.
That's remarkable. Why do you need to overbuild a knife of that size?

I love my peanuts, but the Pemberton just seems to be more robust and sturdy in the same size package. I also love that the nail nicks are on the same sideThat way I have the choice of blades without turning the knife over. I alternate between both styles during the week, but the Pemberton seems to be getting a little more pocket time. Steven

The biggest and most numerous complaint about the peanut is that the handle is too small for some folks. Maybe what GEC is trying to do is, give a peanut size knife with a bit more grip to hang onto. A handle that is a little thicker, wider, will give a man who wears size large gloves a more manageable small pocket knife for the city or greater suburbia. I can see where they are going with this.

Not in my experience. The Pemberton is nice and flat. The Peanut is Chunky. I would say the Peanut is fatter than a single blade Pemberton, by one spring width.

I would also say the spring resistance on my Peanut is a 3 (feels soft, does not inspire confidence on lockup) compared to an 8 for the Pemberton (feels rock solid when open).

I wear size large gloves also. I find my single blade Pemberton much more comfortable in hand than my peanut. I prefer both the flatter handle and wider blade of the Pemberton.

Not a fan of 2 blade knives, and especially not with the pen in front of the primary. But that Northfield version is certainly a pocket jewel.

My Pemberton bumped my Peanut out of my pocket.

Where did you get those knife pouches? Did you make them yourself?
