Pen Fishing Rod

TonyM, eat your heart out, I am the owner of the the original Chinese Pen Fishing Rod! I'm not actually willing to admit how I came to be in possession of this particular, dubious, piece of gear, but I thought I would test it anyway. This rod is shaped like an ink pen, a very large one. It has a small telescoping rod inside and an external tackle mechanism. The instructions tell us that is capable of reeling in a 2.2 pound fish. My son and I put it to the test and on the first cast, we caught a small fish. The tackle actually works OK, but I think you could improvise a better fishing set-up pretty easily... In any case here is a couple of pics:

My son is actually a lefty, he had to change the orientation of the rod to use it! I'm making fun of it here, but the mechanics weren't really that bad and whole set-up is very light...
 
I still think thats slicker than snot on a door knob. I sometimes use a noose on the end of a fishing pole to wrangle lizards, and this would be damn handy! Cool!
 
That is pretty cool, catching a fish on something that small of a fishing pole. Thanks for sharing.
 
Very cool that it worked out for you, I read some write ups on teh Coleman version and it got seriously panned. Lots of reports of it breaking.
