A while back I had sent my Pen Knife to cantina-regular Ferrous Wheel (Keith) for some etching, similar to that done for the passaround Pen Knife and the Seax group. In addition to the etching on the blade, Ferrous designed a sunburst effect for the buttcap, which I wanted to show off since it is such a nice thick slab of brass. It all turned out great and I really appreciate Keith's craftsmanship. Thanks Ferrous! (Sadly, my photog skills aren't up to snuff, and my monitor is funky so I can't even tell if the colors are anywhere near right)

The right side with etching. The blade still has quite a bit of scratching on it from where I cleaned off the little rust spots from the first run of Pen Knives that made it here.

Left side etch and Scot Meah owner's mark. I really like the design on this side, like a flower more than a sun.

Two views of the buttcap carving. Like filework on a blade spine (another idea for future Pen Knife enhancements :D), the design covers both the end and the depth of the buttcap. When I opened the package I saw the little sun peeking out at me and I was immediately impressed :) Thanks again Keith!!!

 Keith, you do spectacular work! You're as good at making them pretty as Pen is at making them sharp, and that's saying something. Awesome work man.

The thicker buttcap really gave the sunburst design the depth needed to pull off the effect.

Also, you can see the temper line in the flower/sun pic closeup. it is a darl martensitic line running thru the middle of the bottom petal/ray and rising to the left. Looks like its hardened almost all the way to the tip.
