I was out cutting down some box elder trees this weekend and was using the Pen Knife. Chopping down 4" diam trees. Box Elder is fairly soft wood but still great chopping for such a small knife. Limbed and cut up the trees and a few passes on the strop and it shaved again.:D

I always thought these seemed too short, and never would have bought one except they had that great sale on them a while back. Glad I did. It is one of my favorites now.

This is one newbie waiting for the next such sale! Glad to hear it's a real worker!

some kind of skinning or hide cleaning knife, they're really edge-hard and acutely ground (at least the ones I've etched for folks).

I prefer a bit more point, but I've handled a few 8-13 inch khuks recently, and I gotta say that there is some appeal to the smaller khuks.

The Biltong I have would make a wonderful karda for my 18" AK.:)

FW,

I can see what you are saying about the point, also the skinning thing. The edge on mine is killer(after I sharpened it) really digs into the wood and doesn't dull out like some of my bigger ones.:)
