Just ordered the pen knife. Anyone have any experience with it or the AK bowie.

I don't have any experience with the Pen knife, though it has been on my wish list for a while now, but I can tell you I am one of the loudest supporters of the AK bowie. I have had mine for about a year and a half now and it is my standard camping knife/tool. It's pretty much indestructible and does multi-duty as a chopper/hatchet, knife, and pry bar. It's fairly heavy, which is great for chopping, but I find it still graceful enough to use as a fishing knife and for making fuzzy sticks. I've done everything with it from making dinner in the kitchen to chopping down small trees to build a shelter and it has never even slowed down. I definately heart my AK bowie. Also I've always wanted to try out one of those munk chunk cleavers that were coming through for a while, are there anymore of those on the way, Yangdu? Cheers!

I like the look of the pen knive and will be interested in how you find yors and the size of it - I hear that they range from around 12 OAL to about 15 OAL.

I have (had; I gave one to one of my nephews) three Pen knives. They are one of my favorite working khuks. 2 of mine mine were 18 OAL, one was 12. Their weight and shape lend them to long chopping sessions. There are heavier hitters in the HI lineup, but the Pens are very good workers.

Luv the pen knives.... keep one in the glove & one on the workbench. Just used it today when I needed to fashion some push sticks for the table saw. Hacked the notches out right quick... the pen knife is easily used as a small, agile hatchet.

I am sold out the munk chunk cleavers for now but the shop and Kamis are working on it. Be sure to check back in a month.

I love it that a foot-long knife that likely weighs over a pound is considered a small blade....

I've also noticed that since I started buying HI.... I don't shy away from cutting metal any more. Usta be I didn't want to hurt my blade. HI is just so dang robust I tend to just hack through whatever is in the way.
