So, how are the Taiwan made 3 1/2" AUS10 Pendleton Hunters? Does anyone have one and care to comment? I'm looking for small EDC. If I needed something to regularly clean game, I'd step up to the Master Hunter, but I don't want a 5" blade; I have plenty of those. The sheath on the Pendleton Hunter looks a bit sketchy, but I am sure I can find something else that works. Like most older guys, by now, I have a box full of empty sheaths that I can mix and match. Thanks for any comments and advice from you gentleman.

I have both master and pendleton hunters, and prefer the latter's handle shape, and blade length/shape for hunting. I have the former in carbon V and mourned its passing until the pendeton came out in 3v for a while, I do have pendletons in san mai 3 and aus 10 and all are good steels,

Thank you, CS-hunter. It is helpful to hear from someone who has experience with the current Pendleton Hunter...and with past iterations. I also appreciate reading about your preference between the Master and Pendleton Hunter. From your forum name I assume you have used these in the field, and that makes your feedback valuable to me. Cheers.

I own the older version that has VG-1 steel, and a handle that is a bit shorter.

If I am not mistaken, the newer version has a longer handle, which in my opinion is a good thing.

The AUS10A steel that is used on current models will be perfectly adequate for this knife. I have a few other Cold Steels with this steel and have found it to perform very well.

The sheath is still Securex as far as I know. It has a belt loop that can be removed, and it also has a loop that is secured by Velcro, which is handy.

Overall, a nice package for the money.

Thanks, MolokiaRider....that was my impression as well, so I just ordered one. I added a Pendleton Hunter Lite to the order also to qualify for free shipping. I think that one with the 4116 Stainless will be useful in the garden this summer. And if I inadvertently leave it out overnight it will suffer no ill affect, I think.

I'd be interested in your thoughts and impressions after you get it.

I enjoy carrying mine stuffed completely in my front pocket. It is small enough to do this without any issues with comfort.
