Penetrating epoxy info

In the past I've mentioned in this forum that I use penetrating epoxy as a sealer on wood knife handles. I soak the handle with the epoxy sealer, let it dry, sand lightly, and then finishing up with super glue. I use the penetrating epoxy because it soaks into the wood grain much more than something like super glue will, especially on the relatively soft maple burl I like. I use super glue for the finish coats because it gives a better shine.

I haven't tried it on bone or antler. That's an interesting idea.

It's like water and it penetrates about like water. It goes into my soft woods about 3/32 inch. It doesn't penetrate really hard stuff like ironwood very much, but it gets into the pores and really clings there. It seals and provides a thin, durable base for other finishes.
