In the past I've mentioned in this forum that I use penetrating epoxy as a sealer on wood knife handles. I soak the handle with the epoxy sealer, let it dry, sand lightly, and then finishing up with super glue. I use the penetrating epoxy because it soaks into the wood grain much more than something like super glue will, especially on the relatively soft maple burl I like. I use super glue for the finish coats because it gives a better shine.
