Penn Safety Razor- Display Only?

Hey guys, I just got this older Penn razor. I did a little bit of looking around online, and one source I looked at stated that they had ceased to produce the blades that fit this razor. What I am wondering is, would it be possible to use standard, double sided safety razor blades on this razor? Or would I need to find NOS blades from when it was originally manufactured? Thanks a bunch for any input you can give me. Also, I've never shaved with anything but a standard disposable razor, so any technique tips you guys could give me would be much appreciated. Thanks again.

1918-1927, Good luck on finding blades. The are more rare and in Krumholz's Collector's guide to American Razor Blades he gave a value of $7-10 per pack. They appear to be smaller than Gillettes. As you know there were thousands of different blade mfgs. Just as today they only make the razor to sell replacement blades, and most wanted to make a size that required that only their blade worked in their razor.

I wonder if the Enders style blade will work in that. I have a good stash of Enders blades if we can figure out if they do indeed fit.

Thanks for the help guys. I'll look up Enders style blades. Are they basically single edged blades, only without the folded steel on the non-edge side (spine)?

Yes, they are similar to a standard SE blade without the spine. But they have two arms that stick forward towards th edge, they were the stops for the blade. There were heavy blades designed to be stropped and reused, then there were thin disposable blades. I believe the heavy blades were known as the "speed" blades. Enders are out of production as well, but I do see their blades for sale much more often than Pen.

Good luck!
