I was looking for a cheaper bandsaw blade I got tired of going through the delta bladesthe Starret ones lasted longer then the delta ones. I was paying anywhere from $12.99 to $14.99 a blade Canadian so thats like 2 cents to you Americans. Aneay took a trip State side and stoopped at Harbour Freight. While I was there thought I would pic up some 64.5' bandsaw blades to save a buck ended up only buying one figuring I would wait and see how they worked.

Anyway went to change the blade today and the HB blade wouldn't even fit my saw it was too small. Ended up changing to my last delta after a small fight with the HB blade. Right after that I went up stairs logged on the net and called Lenox the local rep will be hand delivering my Diemaster 2 blade Monday for under $30.

Enough playing around.

I use a Milwakie porta band with a homemade table so I couldn't tell which is the best blades to buy. But I have to spend 8-9$ a blade on factory and got tired of that so I ordered a Harbor Frieght bandsaw blade welder and a 100' roll of bandsaw blade for under 40$ from Victor machinery. I figure the blades will cost me around 2$ a piece and pay for the welder pretty quik.

Woah, I checked out HF and that's a great idea! At $129, you'd pay for the welder on the first roll of blades.

My delta snaps fresh blades so regularly, I'm going to look out for a blade welder.

In my shop we don't have a band welder for our Johnson horizontal band saw. We buy 100 ft rolls of banding and silver solder them together. There is a tutorial around here somewhere that gives you the how to. I have found that an ordinary propane torch will be hot enough to use on the thin blade material using 1100 f silver solder. Give it a try on an old broken blade and find out how easy it is to do.

Bingo! That's a helluva idea, Will. I'm pulling my hair out with busted blades, bad tension, and cheap crap equipment. Making my own blades to order might be just the ticket. ;)

I used to do that for the large bandsaw at the sign shop I worked at a long while back. It can be tricky but does save time and money in the long run.

Well you have just given me something else to think about I will start looking into it. Hopefuly this Diemaster balde gives me enough time to work it out.
