A vintage SOG Pentagon I ordered finally arrived today and I noticed a difference in the blade markings.

On the Pentagon that arrived today, the blade markings are stamped into the metal. One side is marked "Seki-Japan" and the other side marked with the "SOG Specialty Knives" logo box.

This is different from another vintage Pentagon where the same markings are crisply acid-etched in black. Also, beneath the "SOG Specialty Knives" logo box there's an additional etching, "EDM. WA."

Both of these knives came with the SOG leather boot/belt clip sheath. I was wondering which knife was the earliest version?

The "Edm WA" (Edmonds, Washington...SOG's 2nd factory location) should be the older of the two. Before that, they were marked "SM, CA" (or something close...standing for Santa Monica, California...SOG's 1st and original location). After Edmonds, they moved to Lynnwood, Washington (their 3rd and most recent location). I'm having a brain fart...I think at that point, they dropped putting their factory's location on their blades.

Yes...I'll even go further.

Dates approximate (I can't remember the exact years they moved):

Late 1980's: Santa Monica
Most of the early to mid 1990's: Edmonds
From about 1996 to present: Lynnwood
