I have a number of heavy-duty "serious purpose" folders, from a number of manufacturers, and have EDC'd them, at various times. I have settled on my PEII as the "ultimate survivor" among them all.
While all of the top-end specimens (from Spyderco, Benchmade, Camillus and Al Mar) share excellent edge-taking capability, strong locks and good ergonomics, the handle configuration of the PEII lends itself to EDC in my pocket better than any other I've tried.
Understand, clip-carry is unacceptable for me, in my daily office environment. My folder must be carried completely concealed; that is, out of sight in the pocket. I removed the pocket clip and the opening stud, and this folder slides easily into my hip pocket, tip-up, beside my wallet. It carries invisibly and has no protrusions to "hang" on the draw.
More importantly, it accesses for the draw better than any other folder, similarly carried. I simply place my finger at the bottom of the pocket and slide upward; the PEII slides right up & into my hand. The Arc Lock translates to effortless inertial opening.
Bottom line: I've tested the PEII against all the others in my collection, and none of the others comes close with regard to fast, consistent access from the pocket.
There's a show this weekend, and I'll be picking up either a second PEII (in the event I wear this specimen "slap out") or a PEI (even smaller!), or, possibly, BOTH!
