Pentagon Elite - thumbs up, but ouch...

After some intense Internet research, and much of that done in this forum, I bought a Pentagon Elite. I'm certainly no expert; the last knife I bought was 20 years ago. So I sure appreciate all the information I got from you folks.

I think I'll like the knife, but I've got one complaint. The thumb stud is a bit small in diameter and the upper edge isn't chamfered, so I've got a very sore thumb. Of course, that might be due to opening and closing it approx. 500 times in the last 24 hours. That shouldn't be a big deal for ordinary carry. Still, it'd be nice if the thumb stud was a little larger, a little bit rounded, and maybe even stippled for good coefficient of friction.

Other than that, I'm happy. Nice size and light in weight. Solid when open or closed, and the action is smooth. I like the blade geometry and the balance. The handle feels good and secure to the hand when open or closed.

With one possible reservation, nice work SOG!

... and thanks again to all you forum contributors.

Hey Midnight-Ramble,

Welcome to BladeForums.com and the SOG Forum. You've certainly found a great knife here to purchase. Regarding your thumb:

No doubt, this is the exact reason. I flicked my first ArcLock knife so many times when I first got it, that I literally couldn't use my thumb for about three weeks. In the battle of steel versus flesh: flesh loses! Now I have a nice callous on my thumb and haven't had a problem since.
