Can someone give me a brief review of this knife (pe14 not the jumbo version :) )? How big is the knife? How big/heavy does it feel? How solid is it? Oh yeah and I meant the Arc-Lock version, not the liner lock. Any info/experience is welcome! I like the design a lot, but have not tried a SOG knife in a long time - my 1st knife was an Air SOG in 1997 - it got me satrted. But I have not bought a SOG since then. Now with the Arc Lock I think they have come back to the top. So I'd like to know where SOG quality stands now, and especially how good is the new lock and how well it goes along with the PE. I'm also considering the X Ray Vision as an alternative. Another knife I'm thinking about buying is the BM Griptilian - if anyone out there could compare these knives, it's be great! I'm looking for an inexpensive, lightweight folder with a good steel and a super lock.

Haven't handled the Griptilian so I can't compare the two. However, IMHO, the PE is a well-made knife and seems like a pretty good value. The scales are molded around steel liners so it feels very solid. It has the feel of a good boot knife and is much more knife than the Air Sog. With the new lock, which is similar in action and reliability to the BM Axis lock, and the reversible clip, its ambidextrous. It's screwed together so you can tune the action. Blade is 3.9" x .135". Overall 8.6". Steel 440C Stainless Rc.56-58 I haven't noticed any decline in SOG quality over the years. From a tactical point of view I like the handle shape of the PE better than the Vision series. Good luck.

Tim, I have both the SOG PE & the Benchmade Griptilian. The PE has a longer blade length than the Griptilian and the action on both is very smooth. The Griptilian has a beefy handle and is designed for tip up carry and it's blade shape is very utilitarian. The Pentagon Elite is very lightweight and is much more "tactical" looking than the Griptilian. I prefer the checkered grip on the Pentagon Elite over and I prefer the thumb studs over the blade holes, simply because it is easier for me to open the knife in a pinch. On both knives, there is absolutely no blade play whatsoever. The Arc-locks and the Axis locks are definately improvements over linerlock folders and are well suited for tip up carry, which is how I prefer to carry my knives. In all honesty, I like them both, but if you get the Pentagon Elite, you won't be dissapointed. If price is an issue, I believe that the MSRP of the PE is less than the Griptilian.
