Wanted to get opinions on the two, who has experience, stories, pics, recommendations, anything?

Anything will help!

Give it some time. I've got a mini P, still waiting for a deal on the P. I like the looks of the full sized better but the mini is comfortable and the cross guard keeps your hand safe from sliding onto the blade. Double edged is illegal to carry here so it's not a user. Too bad because the long serrated edge would be handy.

Just a little impatient I guess :D

And I did indeed notice that the full size didn't have as much of a pronounced guard, is it a noticeable difference in hand or simply in looks? And haha I'm not looking so much for a user, as it is illegal to carry, but boot knives and dagger designs have always fascinated me.

I have both and have carried both out in the national forests here in Utah. Both have been used to open boxes or packages of food, cut rope, webbing and the like, I've even used them for food prep. The mini is really handy in the kitchen IMO. :) Shoot, I've even used my mini as a saw to cut some green branches into walking sticks.

Got the Mini back in the spring of 2000 and the Pentagon in early 2005 IIRC. My hands have never slipped on to the blade from using the Pentagon, though I don't normally stick stuff with it. IMO as long as you have a firm grip on the knife, sliping shouldn't be a problem. Personally I find the Pentagon prettier then the Mini Pentagon do to it's Satin finished blade and handle shape. The lines just flow better on the Pentagon. But when it comes to using them, I normally reach for the mini. Partly because I've had it longer, partly because the handle is thicker and partly because of the shorter blade isn't as scary. When I carry the mini it's as a backup to a larger knife like my Tigershark, Becker BK9, Kabar Heavy Bowie or HI Khukri.

Let me know if you would like pics and I'll get my knives out and take some.

I'm partial to my Pentagon, but it hasn't found a real good use yet. If I need to assassinate someone, that's the knife.

Awesome reply wild, thanks a lot, now getting down to some response here....
It's good to know that there's not any slipping/chances of moving onto the blade of the pentagon, its a concern due to the less pronounced guard. I'm happy that you have had success in the user realm as well, good to hear its more than capable.

And pics would be great! Maybe both the mini as well as the reg., maybe along with a seal pup for size comparison?

Please post if ya get around to using it :D

Have a pentagon! Havent really used it yet though. Its basically like a knife made for an assassin I think?! It is pretty badass and if you had to use it in self defense, your opponent would probably run when they saw it!!

I have a Pentagon, too... And, like @Striderco said, it's "assassin's knife"... :-)

Haven't used mine much (except for in SD classes), but for a fight it handles excellently, I just wish it had at least some finger guard.

One advice though - if you're getting one, go for one with the (new) kysex sheath... or get the sheath from SOG. Mine came with a nylon sheath and I'm not verry happy with it... So, guess what - I got the said kydex sheath :-)

thanks for the responses guys! thanks for the input, think i might go with the full size, pics would help still if someone has both sizes in hand!

I have the old Seki Pentagon. It is a regular EDC hung inverted it is superb for defense (whilst driving) but it is used for making my lunch at the office and a fair whack of other chores. Water doesn't make it slippery.
