.....Really pi$$ me off.
Shopping on a popular auction site led me here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2190624248&category=43326

I love khuks. I've yet to meet a khukuri afficianado who is less than a gentleman, but attitudes like this from those who try to rip HI , make me mad. Maybe I'm making more than is necessary, but if yer gonna be a jerk, come on the cantina and make a Cliff Stamp style comparison. You'd think that magazine artilces, countless testing and the best gurarantees would get some respect.
I don't buy khuks off places like this unless they have HI on 'em, but I have half a mind to buy this and do some serious testing. Then again, giving money to a guy like this is too much.

I kind-a think this means the "H I " is getting pretty well known. Maybe that is a good thing. The comparison is trying to beat down the best, can't be done.;)

I don't see it as worthwhile, he wants $150 buy-it-now. It does'nt look new, and it's not antique. The khuk shown is the one you're getting? How come he says there is no buttplate, when the pic clearly shows one on there?

This guy makes the a-hole list.

Rog,
Don't sweat this! Look at it this way,Say You & I were newbies, looked at this & said"WOW,GOTTA HAVE THIS"!!We would then stop,go hmmmmm,HI?? Who are they??If this is being compared to something called HI,better ck them out!!"WE",would have to find out!If whoever buys without checking"OH,WELL"!!
THE SAINT!

It looks like a khukuri from Khukuri House. I've not ordered from them, but I sincerely doubt they are of the same quality as HI.

he doesn't say they "compare it" FAVORABLY.

"Patience my a$$! I want him to experience his karma, and I want him to do it NOW!" (paraphrasing a couple of vultures I saw once.)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no matter how fouled up it is (grin).

How come he says it has no buttplate when the picture shows it having one?

Must not be the sharpest Khuk in the sheath (LOL).

Don

I'll take all the press I can get -- remembering the times when it was very difficult to get any.

Actually, it's kind of a backhanded compliment. He's not putting down HI, he's holding them up as the standard to beat. He doesn't seem to know much about khuks in general, as was mentioned about the buttcap thing and it obviously isn't up to HI finish standards. I wouldn't say that means it isn't a good knife though; recall how impressively many villagers have performed, even though they aren't made by HI kamis. As the saint quacked earlier, the intelligent buyer may well be prompted to check out HI after seeing that listing. I wouldn't get too riled up over that, in a way the guy is just shooting himself in the foot by even mentioning HI.

Maybe he meant 'fannypack'?
Anyway, reading his description didn't raise my hackles at all. He doesn't slam HI. Quite the contrary.

Besides, if you don't know khuks, you probably don't know what 'HI' is, anyway. If you do, your mind is probably made up already.

I believe that the best never degrade their challengers but rather embrace them; for in meeting their challenges lies the essence of being the best.
Uncle Bill, in his gracious reply, reinforces that belief. Thanks.

Greg

That was a damn fine response Greg.

Besides the buttcap thing. How about the double fullers. Don't sound like an AK to me.:)

Sounds amazingly like a Blem ad/UBBB. Steal this for 150.00 shipped...... one fine rig, etc. He's saying compare HI prices and save, only 150.00 shipped.

They also list a sword described as:

"Royal Nepal Army Ceremonial Sword,"

which looks to me to be a standard design
Chinese jian/gim or Korean kim.

Any idea if this design of sword is a "Royal Nepal Army Ceremonial Sword"?
