What are your favorites in your EDC
Strangely enough the folder I've favored since getting it mid 2011 has been a little D2 three blade split back whittler in iron wood done up for me special by Jerry Barlow. I have three of Jerry's knives and hope to get a fourth here before long. This is a little slip joint of course, and I ordered it with the Wharncliff, wharncliff coping instead of the pen and coping blade and D2 since Jerry normally defaults to O1 on most of his work. Turns out in my older age I like whittling on a stick with that little thing as much as the one I made for myself. Jerry's has better back springs though.
My other EDC line up for the one hand opening locking type which quite honestly sees the most use is what I call my top three. That would be the rainbow colored Kershaw Leek frame lock, the Spyderco Para Military 2, or my Cold Steel Mini AK47. These three get beat up the most in my hands. For what little that is worth. At various times I will have one of several others on me if I get an order for a clip for that one on that morning or something but otherwise my defaults are usually one of these.
The Leek is quite simply one of the top three knives of my life time. It is a very useful design, pleasing to the eye and the hand and it brought things to the table no other package could put together as elegantly. You gotta love it!
The Para Military 2 is quite simply put one of the most complete and well designed knives on planet earth. I can't find fault with it. Everyplace you look it is refined and well thought out down to the last detail. Love it!
The Mini AK47 is just a beater. A little giant tough guy that you can literally beat the living hell out of only to hurt yourself and not the knife in many cases. There are times when I've said the camera or the computer was smarter than the user, and for me the Mini AK is tougher than I am so thats why I carry it. I find I'll do things with it I would not do with the Para 2 or the Leek, particularly with the tip. I guess I like them too much. The Mini AK its like, ah what the hell its a cheapy and I'll just get another but so far this little thing just keeps going like the energizer bunny! In all honesty it is my second one but only by choice. I've also become very fond of my Case Mid Folding Hunter. I don't often get to carry it as much as I'd like due to these others being requests for clips so often but its among my top five.
Anyway, some have asked and I've not answered so I figured this place needed some livinin up!~
