My wife and I were at our attorneys office, changing our will among other things. While we were gone, our "once per month" housekeeper showed up. He is Hispanic and his english speaking skills are very poor. We told him on the phone where the house key was hidden. He had told us that he was bringing a friend to help him clean our house this time. Well, he had trouble finding the key and was searching all around our front porch for it.

One of the neighbors (a 19 year old) thought that they were trying to break in and called the police. This same neighbor has broken into our car in the past, had shot out a car window with his BB gun and had followed the UPS truck around the neighborhood a few years back and stolen peoples Christmas gifts off of their porches.

Juan, our housekeeper, was soooooooo scared. The police couldn't understand him, but he was finally able to give the officer our cell phone number. We were only about a mile away from home when the police dispatcher called us, and we were able to tell them that it was ok, he was there legitimately.

We talked to the officers and everything worked out good.

The thing that impressed us, is that the 19 year old that was taken away in handcuffs for stealing Christmas packages, a kid who knew that I didn't trust him, looked out for my wife and I. It's a good feeling when you watch a young man change for the better!

That's good that he turned around, maybe now that he's old enough to get thrown in the slammer he matured a little.I hope it's not a ruse :foot: I fell for the wolf in sheeps clothing bit from one of my sister in laws friends , almost got myself locked up :foot:

Scott, I'm glad that things worked out for you and your neighbor did the right thing this once. I'd still be a bit leery of the kid, but that's just my jaded opinion. In my job I see people who have been scum-bags (for lack of a better term) for most of their life, call in and really help us out or do a good deed, then a week later they are getting picked up again for something. FWIW I hope this kid has turned for the better. -Matt-

Maybe he just doesn't like folks horning in on his turf...
Like how it's OK for you to smack your little brother, but if someone else does it...Kapow!:p

Seriously, it'd be great if he's managed to get that stupid stuff over with by 19. Some guys never straighten up!

Wow! Actually, after the police told us who was looking after us, I mentioned to my wife that maybe he was pissed that someone else was beating him to our house after all of his hard work over the years casing the place. Great minds think alike, or is it suspicious minds think alike?

I was down to my storage building to find a large amount of MY wiring ripped from the walls and piled up on the floor :grumpy:
I wonder how close I came was to needing to shoot someone :grumpy:
I hate thieves, that's the 3rd time it's been broken into..

Ickie I've seen this over and over,, some grow out of it and some go to jail most of their lives,, what gets me is, some of these turkeys work harder doing wrong then they would in a real job...

I sure hope he has tured around..

I have gone out of my way to be nice to the kids in the neighborhood. Much better to have them on my side than not. Sometimes they just go thru a stupid streak, even when taught better. Most of the ones with caring parents figure it out and straighten out.
