I was just kind of dumbfounded this morning. I was walking around in the part of town where it's trash day today and I saw a bunch of cardboard boxes. Boxes just thrown out at the edge of the lawn, piled on top of trashcans or folded up and sticking a couple of feet out the top of trash cans. I thought to myself, do these people have any idea what a knife even is?

You ever have moments where you think that?

Knives take effort to use. Not much effort, but more than many people wish to expand today. People are just pretty damn lazy nowadays.

Vivi, I don't think that they don't know what a knife is - they just don't feel the compulsive need to use one at every opportunity like we do. :D

So did you cut up the boxes so they would fit nicely in the trash bin? :D

Why retarded? Around here, my landlord pays for trash pickup. If the dumpster is overloaded, the price can go up or the trash left behind. Cutting up boxes before throwing them out makes them fit in much more easily. Even from what Vivi mentioned, the trash wouldn't be sticking up or spilling over if people took the trouble to flatten the boxes, at least.

Nowadays, it seems like more and more people have no sense of personal pride or honor. "Whatever works for me, no matter how inconsiderate of other people it may be....who care's...screw everyone but me." - seems to be the prevailing attitude.
Face it; most people suck. It's a damn shame.

O.K., I'll get off my soapbox now.

You gotta get a life .. if that's what's troubling you....

You gotta get a life ...

As a matter of fact - where can I get life? Something like Brunei sultan's life would fit me rather well...

And some spare lives would be nice too.

You get a spare knife if you have collected more than 20 knives in the hidden room on level three :)

I'd agree. People in general seem a bit on the self centered side.

I just saw overflowing trash bin after overflowing trash bin. Stuff just tossed out onto yards that people will mow three times a week, but they couldn't be bothered to spend 5 minutes making their trash more compact for the trash men. You can tell looking at many peoples trash their only concern was getting it to the curb, no concern over what happens with it after that.

I thought ya had an encounter where somebody saw you knife and asked what is that?

I sometimes get asked why I carry it, ironically it's usually asked while I'm cutting something. Same story that's been heard hear for a while.

Vivi,

I was more focused on the birds, but I couldn't help but notice this and the goofy looking joggers. :)

The world is getting to be too much for me these days! Geez! on top of everything else, now we have the TRASH-POLICE!
Vivi, the question has been asked, did you whip out your "Super-blade," cut it up and neatly stack in the container?
It's a dam shame that people take no pride in how their trash looks.
I'm with RedSox on this one. Yes! I do know what a knife is, and what it's used for, and I don't much care if others do or not. :)

I don't understand - is the idea that people should work to make it easier for the trash men to carry the cardboard from the curb to the garbage compactor 5 feet away? It all goes into the same truck. Big box, little pieces of cut up box. It's probably all the same to the trash guy. It's like complaining about people who don't refold their newspapers in proper order before throwing them in the recycling bin.

tell them how it is esav. thumbs up to you!! they say with age comes wisdom. i guess some people never heard of this one. cutting up cardboard boxes can be fun if you have a sharp knife, plus it makes the trashmans job easier to grab a small bundle of cardboard rather than a bunch of empty boxes.

I go to our city's recycling center at least weekly, and it's great. I can get rid of most of my trash, and it's a good excuse to test edges on cardboard - there's a maximum size, and you have to cut it up.

Only once have I run into a negative reaction, using my Spyderco Caly 3, and I pull it out and start cutting. I hear a *gasp*, some lady is trying to use her car keys to cut hers up. I look at her, finish the cut *zip*, and say, "What's your problem?" At that point, she realizes that I have a reason for this knife, and declines comment.

Too bad more people aren't more careful about their garbage. I agree, this whole selfish attitude is a bad trend in our society.

One day in L.A. I was walking my dog down the street and seen this nice looking lady sitting in her car eating on a hamburger, she tossed a wrapper out the window.
So, I just had to do it, :D I walked over and picked it up, handed it to her and said "you dropped this", she gave me this hateful glare, grabbed it and fired up her car and took off.
I contiued on walking my dog chuckling to myself. :)

JGarth, do you always act in such a condescending, patronizing manner? Most of the posts I see from you are you giving advice that leaves me with the impression that you think you know everything. Or that because you think something is unimportant, that it is unimportant.
