I purchase this knife direct from the dealer only a few months back. Never carried and only opened the tube and blade a few times. Yesterday I noticed some very light pepper spots on both sides of the blade in roughly the same area. Sort of symmetrical.

Is there a recommended way to touch these up before they progress further? Chemical, physical, prayer?

Thanks,,,Mike in Canada

If it's in the same place on each side and symmetrical, I'm guessing it's from sweat/acid on your fingers from when you opened the blades. I use sunshine cloths to do light polishing, but if they're a little deeper you could use flitz (a picture would be useful). Just wipe them off with oil before you put them away to prevent this happening again.

Thanks ALLHSS. I looked up flitz and there are a number of products including a gun and knife care kit I can purchase. Is that the product you meant, or do I only need a subset like the wax or polish?

I had been putting mineral oil on the GECs Ihad been using as EDC's but slipped up on the unused Talon. I will oil it as well now.

Mike,

I just use their polish. It's the green stuff, in liquid form. Renaissance Wax is supposed to be about the ultimate in preserving knives. I haven't used it though, so no first hand experience. Funny enough, I find knives that I don't use have rusted more often than those that I do because they slip my mind.

Ren wax can help prevent rust and such but will not help in removing the spots you already have. I have used it on brass and other things including as a top coat on pens I made. Its good stuff...
