First off, I'm not sure whether this should be here, or in Gadgets&Gear, so I apologize in advance if this is the wrong place. On to my question.
Is it legal for a minor(under 16) to carry 1.5oz of pepper spray in CA? Are there any local restrictions? If so, what are the restrictions for cities such as(in order of importance):Santa Clara, Sunnyvale, San Jose, Cupertino, and Mountain View? I understand there is a limit on the amount of pepper spray you can carry, but not sure about the rest. Thanks for any help.

12403.8(a) PC: ...a minor who has attained the age of 16 years may purchase and possess tear gas or tear gas weapons pursuant to this chapter if he or she is accompanied by a parent or guardian, or has the written consent of his or her parent or guardian.

under 16 or w/o parental consent would be in violation of 12403.7(d) PC.

you're on your own for the other local laws/ordinances.

So to be clear that's only for the purchasing part, not the carrying right?

What is the limit for size of an OC can? I have a 1.5 pound can that never leaves the house.

I figure the law applies to carrying.

It looks like it might apply to possession, but I have a feeling if you own it already, you bought it in state? Maybe local law enforcement just doesn't care all that much about the size limit. Might be one of those things you might file under "who's gonna know until my life is in danger? Better ticketed than dead."

I'll paste the important parts below. Full text can be seen at http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/calaw.html

12403.7. Notwithstanding any other law, any person may purchase,
possess, or use tear gas and tear gas weapons for the projection or
release of tear gas if the tear gas and tear gas weapons are used
solely for self-defense purposes, subject to the following
requirements:
...
(e) (1) No person shall purchase, possess, or use any tear gas
weapon that expels a projectile, or that expels the tear gas by any
method other than an aerosol spray, or that contains more than 2.5
ounces net weight of aerosol spray
.
