Perceived "tightness" of the pivot for Native SS

I've got a curious question to ask all of you.
I've just got a Native SS recently, and I love it, but I found a little quirk.
It seems that whenever I open the blade often enough, the blade would not drop as before (presumably friction had heated up the tolerances that allowed the blade drop when unlocked before).
Anyone seen similar problems, and any good solutions?

Calyth I've noticed the same thing on some other SS models.
I like you assume it's either the metal to meatl friction enlarging each other, or some form of galling.
On SS i've found 3-1 oil works better than Miltech. Ron

Hm... sounds like I need to find some better knife lube...

Try BreakFree CLP. That's what I use, and it seems to work fine with my stainless (& FRN/G-10) Spydies.

Hi Calyth - For me Break Free CLP works best at making things "slippery" and worked great to loosen up my sticky Natives - both FRN and SS. However.....

I use Tuff Glide for my EDC knives - wipe it on, let it dry (sometimes I help with my hair dryer on low). Keeps my knives protected with out attracting pocket gunk etc. It does work ok to reduce friction. My only problem with Tuff Glide is that I have a hard time accepting that something that is clean and dry is also protected - but it is. I tested it by dunking a knife in water, then shaking it dry. I could see how the water wasn't "sticking" to the metal surfaces. Somewhat like a car in the rain after it has been waxed.

I use Militec-1 for long term lube & storage. And it protects geat. The stuff never seems go go away, unlike Break Free which in my experience does not have much staying power.

I use Break free to loosen things up - and for cleaning. In terms of "oil" type cleaners (as opposed to solvent cleaners) it works best for me for that purpose.

I hope I didn't jsut highjack this topic - wasn't my intent anyway.

Chuck

Thanks for all the tips.
I guess I need to get my hands on Tuff-Glide afterall.
