Thanks

Nice sparks. Great job man. I had a fail today with mullein pith. Going to dry and dust it like chaga

That is awesome jcl-MD!!! Not easy to get un-charred natural materials to do that with traditional flint & steel. I haven't tried sunflower yet, thanks for the idea.

Woods Walker, for mullein pith, it sometimes helps to shave it paper thin if you hadn't tried that yet. Even then, weather, etc. plays a factor and still not easy, at least I struggle with it a lot.

that was amazing. Blows most people's knowledge of flintnsteel firemaking out of the water. And Abo, why haven't you shown me how to do this yettt!

Bro have seen your video and tried to reproduce it but so far full of fail. But will try again. Thanks for doing it! :) I did use mullein just found outside. Maybe a period of drying might help? In the sun etc before giving it a go. On a side note powdered mullein worked with a firesteel but not flint and steel. In powdered forum it didn't really coal good. Hard to explain the nature of the failure but it wasn't all that great. Unlike powdered chaga which is beyond fantastic. Will make any bow drill (and probably hand dill) work and catch any spark. Also allows for lesser grade chaga to work but there are limits

I do use milkweed ovum to good effect. One of those seasonal not charred tinders that will work without drying etc as the pod often protects the ovum plus it is so thin they must air dry in an hour.

I think with some of these not charred tinder previously caught and failed sparks might start to char them allowing for success.
