I'm a complete Star Wars dork and my girlfriend gave me one of those $20 plastic lightsabers for my birthday. At first, I expected the usual: cheap plastic handle with awkward buttons, with really bad lighting. Well, I opened it, and I was pretty blown away by how good it is for $20 (since that gets you nothing these days). The tube is really solid, and I have been doing a lot of pretty rough dueling with it. It doesn't get those dings or bends that the cheap thin ones get; it's much thicker and sturdier. The lights are as good as you can get unless you buy a Parksaber or Master Replica EL tube saber. It also makes sounds: start up, idle hum, clash, and shut down, and they're quite loud and very nice. So far, it's just like the sweet Luke Skywalker ROTJ one I had when I was 10, BUT this one has another feature: If you hit something, it vibrates quite a bit. Granted, the blade doesn't fully retract, but I don't think you'd really want to carry a lightsaber on your belt anyway. It's the perfect dueling lightsaber: cool looking, cheap, makes sounds, and even vibrates for more realism. It's way better than the MR ones, because those are 6 times as much money and I'd never want to duel with that. So if you or your child crave some simple futuristic entertainment, get your son the Episode III Electronic lightsaber. I have Obi-Wan's, but I'm pretty sure you can also get Anakin's/Vader's, Mace Windu's, or Yoda's. I also have to say that the hilt for the Kenobi one looks pretty sweet. Lots of fun to be had, and these things never get old. So if you love your children, you should probably buy it. ;)
